12/30/2009 - AUSTRALIA Night 1 Mt. Gambier
Forty-eight hours after departing his home state of Minnesota, Craig Dollansky hit the track in Mt. Gambier, South Australia to begin his month long tour in the country.

In a ride owned by Tasmanian car owner Robin Dawkins, Dollansky sported the USA #7 Tamar Cars entry.

The night started rough for the team as their front nose wing folded during qualifying placing them 31st quickest of 46, 410 sprinters. With the majority of the nightly points coming in qualifying, this put the team in the hole from the start of the night.

Redeeming themselves in the following 2 heat races, the USA #7 started from the 3rd position in the 1st heat race and running second and gaining valuable points early when there was very little passing. In the second round of heat races Dollansky began from the 4th spot, and quickly moved into third. In an ill handling race car and with shear determination he worked on the second place driver passing him about 3/4ths of the way through the race. On the second to the last lap the ‘Crowd Pleaser’ picked off the leader, taking over the top spot winning the second round heat race of the night.

Through their heat race finishes, the USA #7 team moved up in the points for the night from 31st to 18th overall. Only the top 14 in points make the A-main through the heats, then four transferi out of the B-main to make the 18 car field. Scheduled to start 4th in the B, Dollansky improved the teams A-main starting position by 2, by finishing 2nd in the B.

Soon after the green flag dropped signaling the start of the feature race of the night, the USA #7 developed an issue with the steering catching. “I had a problem with the steering right away in the feature,†Dollansky stated, “I kept running it and after a while I had hydraulic fluid spraying all over me. I ran about 10 more laps like that and then I had to pull it into the infield.†The problem ended the night for the Tazy/USA team.
